Smugglers Notch, Vermont

Travel is always an adventure, and you learn to expect the unexpected.

Today was finally a sunny day, forecasted to be 70 degrees. Perfect for hiking! We chose smugglers notch. As we were driving up we saw the snow capped mountains. Then we entered the snow capped mountains! We drove as far as we could before the road closed, and parked at the ski area parking lot. The kids got out the sleds and played while I made lunch. Notice the kids are still in shorts and t-shirts, because it *is* 70 degrees, as forecasted.

After lunch we set off on our hike. It was beautiful. There were many signs of spring, especially the roaring waterways. It was a steep climb, but everyone was in good spirits. We had a great time, until we had to turn back because there was just too much snow on the trail. We all had on good shoes, but they were wet from crossing streams and Sidda in particular had very cold toes. We were all wearing shorts, and my legs were getting cut from falling through the snow. But it was great fun!
