Welcome to Vermont!

Oh, boy, welcome to Vermont! I think I gained 10 pounds today. 😉

It was rainy today, so I decided we would squeeze in three food factory tours. I have determined that Vermont is full of makers. Makers of furniture and wool clothing, pottery and toys, but most of all FOOD.

We started at Cabot cheese factory. We watched an informative movie, donned paper booties, and went on our own private factory tour. It was so cool! So much cheese! But the best part was the cheese tasting after the tour. There were 30 different flavors! Amazing! I think my favorite was the smoky bacon, but the jack was so good, like butter.

Next up was Cold Hollow Cider Mill. We were able to see cider being pressed and taste more yummy food. Apple butters and jellies and sauces, plus cider, of course. They are known for their Apple cider donuts (which we decided needed icing, so we improvised). Then we took our goodies back to the rv for lunch.

Last stop of the day was the Ben and Jerry’s factory. Hooray! Definitely the most anticipated stop of the day, and it did not disappoint. We took the 30 minute tour and were rewarded with a large sample of strawberry hibiscus ice cream. We then purchased two pints to share, chocolate fudge brownie and phish food, my personal favorite. The flavor graveyard was also a big hit.
