These are the days…

These are the days that I should write about. Not every day is coming up roses.

So, as you may know, we are making the long trek home for my niece, Elizabeth’s, wedding. We are really making tracks, putting in long days to get to Sacramento.

So, yesterday never really ended, it just blended into today. Still driving towards Salt Lake City, we stopped at 1:30am at Evanston, WY for gas. The water pipes had frozen, it was 14 degrees, and we had plans for today, so we weren’t stopping. We had just come through a high wind advisory, with signs for “possible blow over.”

Until…as Deon is pumping gas, Jedi vomits a lava stream down the front of him. So much McDonald’s. I may never eat there again. I wiped him off as best as possible, but it stank, and of course he needed a shower. Cause that is what you do.

But, no water. No campground. I immediately decided we needed a hotel room. Deon didn’t entirely agree, but I didn’t hear a solution, so off we went. He helped get Jedi, Kieran and I settled, then slept in the rv with the other 4.

Jedi puked until sometime in the 3 o’clock hour, and even for the rest of the night he whimpered. I didn’t sleep more than an hour at a time.

So, fast forward to wake up time (9? 10? Who knows). We start cleanup process. Car seat, towels, clothes, kids, me, all through the shower. And Finn starts puking. Politely cancel all our anticipated plans for the day (sledding with 2 sets of cousins, visit with an old friend from slo). Hit the road at noon with a new destination: Reno. Our snow fun day turned into a 9 hour driving day.

We weren’t more than an hour and a half before Aunica started throwing up, in a bowl (you’re only unprepared the first time).

Sometimes that happens. Life is messy and beautiful. So we drove. Into the sunset. Happy last day of 2016.
