Full day, full hearts

Whew, we packed a lot into this day!

We were very generously invited to attend our new friends’ homeschool co-op this morning. We were late (I’m sure you’re shocked), but still made 2 hours of it. The 4 big kids took off to their classes, so I will just have to give you their word for it that it was fun. I stayed with the 2 littles in the 0-3 class. There were probably a dozen kidlets and 6 adults. Singing, stories, toys and play doh.  So nice for all of us to be included.

After co-op we met our new friends at a local park for lunch and play. Sidda found a fast friend, Aunica talked books with the older boys, all the littles mixed pell-mell, and Rachael and I talked homeschooling and travel, and lots more. We stayed for a few hours, neither of us wanting to leave. We hope to meet up in Texas in December.

Then we headed out for Indiana. I wanted to see the loess hills, an interesting hill formation, basically only found in Iowa and in China. We went for a *very* strenuous 2 1/2 mile hike. Strenuous because the hills are like 60′ tall fingers, so a lot of steep up and downs, and also strenuous because I just about ran the whole thing with a 30lb kid on my back. Why, you ask? Mosquitoes! Thick like pea soup, biting like the dickens. If I so much as slowed down there would be a dozen on my body immediately. I’m sure it was a beautiful hike. I can’t say I saw much at Mach 3. Here is the picture you get, over my shoulder as I ran to the van.

Then we got to drive back to Omaha to pick up aunicas favorite hat that she left at the zoo, adding an extra hour to our drive time today. Then on to Des Moines.
