We do big things (and so should you)

Hi, all! Welcome! Let me introduce ourselves. I’m Heather, stay at home mom to homeschooled kids, used to be accountant (a lifetime ago).

Married to Deon, working at an engineering firm, home repair master.

And our 6 kiddos. Yes, that’s right, 1-2-3-4-5-6.

Aunica, 12

Sidda, 10

Dimitri, 7

Finn, 4

Jedi, 2

 And Kieran, 15 months.

Crazy, I know, right?

So, now you have the who, on to the what and when. A great adventure! Epic road trip. June 25, 2016 to June 8, 2017. 40ish States in a 35 foot trailer, pulled by a 15 passenger van.

And now, for the why. Whys are always complicated, aren’t they.

The simpler answer is that once upon a time, Deon had a job he wasn’t happy going to. Life is short, so we brainstormed options.  Seeing the country seemed like the one for us. In the meantime, he got a job that he does love. I kind of gave up on the idea until Deon decided he really had his heart set on travelling. So, we decided to go for it anyway, and his super-awesome boss said he was on board with Deon working remotely part-time.

The more complicated reason is that, in our family, we do big things. Obviously, having six kids is one of them. When we got married, we took a 3 month, around the world honeymoon. We allow ourselves to dream, then do it. We don’t spend a lot of time hung up on “we can’t.”

And, here is my thought for today. I don’t want you to, either. Life *is* short, and you only have one shot at it. When I share our plans, everyone is excited. Sometimes I hear “I’ve always wanted to do that!” and sometimes the answer is that they know it isn’t for them. Either way, that’s ok. But find your thing and do it. Dream big and live it. Grad school? Do it! Run a marathon? Do it! Surf in Costa Rica? Make it happen!

Be inspired. Dream big, and do it. We are!
