Today I got to check off an item on my southern bucket list (although, like everything else on this trip, it just leads to 5 more things tacked on to it). We visited Boone Hall Plantation. I chose this plantation on the basis of a few criteria. One was cost, and the all-inclusiveness of the price. One, of course, was ratings. Today we spent 5 long hours walking downtown Savannah. I bought 2 guide books about the historic buildings and we set out. Savannah was laid out around purposely created “squares” like small parks every few blocks. It makes for a beautiful city. The architecture reminded me a little of New Orleans. They take St Patrick’s day seriously around here, and are expecting an influx of 500,000 people this weekend. Needless to say, we will not be in that number. The…
