Welcome, welcome, sabbath morning…
Our first Sunday on the road, small town West Yellowstone, ID. July 3rd. Any red flags yet?
We spent the night in the church parking lot so we could be there on time. One Ward, 10am service. Up, dressed, fed and out the door…whoa, it got crowded. Went inside early for seats. Which was good because people just kept coming. And coming.
By ten o’clock the church was packed. Like nothing I’ve ever seen. Lining the halls, tvs in every classroom, people sitting on the kitchen counters. Their regular Ward attendance is 125, and this, their busiest Sunday of the year, they swell to 1000 people. Hats off and a great big thank you to all the members of the West Yellowstone Ward who make it possible for all the visitors to faithfully attend church. Their young men spent half an hour passing sacrament. Their primary grew from 6 to 85, and they still provided lessons.
After church we headed back to Yellowstone. We attended a ranger program about bears, then visited mammoth hot springs terrace and the visitors center. We drove out through the east entrance, and saw a lot of wildlife. Deon even spotted a lone wolf hunting elk.
We were destined for Cody, WY, but fell short as eyelids got heavy.
