I always say that birthdays are great, as long as you are happy with where you are in life. I would say I’m pretty happy, but this birthday (40!) was a little hard to swallow.

For aunica’s birthday, she requested a trip to a pumpkin patch. I hadn’t gotten around to that, so I researched and found one in Des Moines. We spent the day at Center Grove Orchard. So fun! I had never heard of a corn pool before. It’s basically a pool filled with corn kernels. There were tractors to ride for big and little kids, the cutest baby goats, jumping pillows and hopping ponies, 2 huge burlap sack slides, and, the crowning glory, a 4 acre corn maze. I got shown up in the corn maze (which isn’t surprising). I thought I made it through first, but Deon actually made it out twice, and was just behind me. We all had a great day.

   
   
Then a birthday dinner for me. I thought Zombie Burger and Shake Lab sounded fun, and it certainly was! Loaded fries with liquid and shredded cheese, bacon, green onions, and sour cream. Yum. And some seriously tasty and unique burgers. Plus a smores shake for me, free, cause it’s my birthday!
