Wisconsin here we come…

Up and on our way this morning to Wisconsin. We forfeited our stop in Milwaukee, sadly. We need to make up some days, and couldn’t justify it based on new and different kids activities and concerns for safety. Milwaukee is experiencing some rioting based upon (another) recent police shooting.

So, we headed straight for eagle, WI, and Old World Wisconsin, which is a living history historical museum. Deon always says they sound the same, but each one is different and fun. Besides, he stayed in the rv to work. Part of the planning and execution of this trip is keeping in mind the ages of my children. We want them to be successful, and I want me to not be crazy. So these interactive museums are great.

This museum was focused on farming in the 1800s. It was great! All my kids even got to milk a cow. There was a tram to cover the distances, and a fun bicycle riding area. And the girls have been waiting to buy bonnets since we left SLO. They found some cute ones here, at a very nice price for them (of course, they are made in China). The girls look so cute in them!

And I do have a crazy story today. We were on a “farm” and Aunica opened the door to the smokehouse (totally allowed). Out comes a bumblebee. The bumblebee from hell, apparently. And out for blood. We aren’t usually afraid of bee, but this wasn’t your average bee. It was angry and aggressive and chased us all in turns. This went on for at least 5 minutes, without exaggeration. We screamed, batted, ran. Jedi got stung on his lip, thankfully not bad. We finally dodged it by running in a building. The nice farm lady said it was not the first time this bee had attacked, and it didn’t end pretty. Thankfully we got away relatively unscathed, although we did have to fill out an incident report.

  1. Oh no!!! That is a bad story and we are sorry for Jedi. We’ve seen lots of yellow jackets everywhere this summer and I hate them! But a crazed bumble bee is scarier! I wonder if it was a carpenter bee?

    1. Yes, I think you may be right. And, although it is unusual, I think it may have been a male and bit his lip. He didn’t have any swelling like a sting.
