Michigan industry

Iron industry, to be exact. We started off our day at the Michigan Iron Industry Museum. This is a *very* well done, child-friendly, free museum in Marquette, MI. Deon worked while I took the kids through the museum. There were hands in exhibits, including a board game, and many engaging pictures, artifacts, and displays. Then the kiddos and I did the 2 short walks on the property. Gorgeous, of course.

Then we headed over to a city park on the lake where you could jump off rocks into the water. I stayed back with the baby asleep, so no pictures, but they were gone a long time. And came back excited. So I will take it as a good sign.

On the way out of town, we popped in at the Lackenenland sculpture park. It’s a privately owned, open to the public, iron art park. Play is encouraged, and we did! My family had a blast.

And, a little footnote. We stayed in a casino parking lot last night. It was pretty full, so we tried to maneuver in behind some of the sites. Into some very deep sand. Yep, stuck again, a different kind this time. With a tow strap and some help, we made it out in under and hour. Thankful for some very nice people on the road.
