Discovery Museum of Maine, Bangor
Another rainy day, but I didn’t think I would have much luck with two days in, so I took the kids to the Discovery Museum of Maine.
This is definitely geared for younger children, which is fine because I have a lot of those. Aunica opted to sit in the RV with Deon, who was working, and read. It’s a nice break for her.
Although directed at the younger set, all of my kids had a blast. It was three stories, and although we have ourselves five hours, we closed the place down and they could have stayed longer. The first floor was dedicated to nature, the second floor to different countries (see Japan and Brazil) as well as literacy (recognize the great green room), and the third floor had an eclectic mix of dinosaur dig, bodies, and arts, including a music studio. My kids went to town singing the songs from Moana. We had kind of been sticking around so Aunica could attend young women’s. (Bonus that Dimitri was able to attend scouts.) The girls made homemade pizzas and it was heartwarming to see the other girls literally with their arms around Aunica.
