A little off
Our time here is DC has been good, but always a little off. We have tried twice to see fords theater, but couldn’t get tickets. We have struggled to get moving in the morning, and today I spent some time cleaning after a week of go, go, go.
We headed into the city to see the White House, which we had done with the girls but not the boys. Parking was scary, but we survived. We only had a few minutes at the visitors center, but the boys got their Jr ranger badges. Here is MY future president. We have had a few times when we thought we saw the president’s transportation, as we know he is at the White House this week.
The only other thing I really wanted to accomplish was to go on a cherry blossom walk. And see the Vietnam memorial. Neither of which happened.
Enter some lessons in letting go. And enjoying the moment.
The tide was in at the tidal basin, and it was so cool to see and fun to splash in.
And then we did cartwheels and somersaults on the lawn. Just for fun.
And I laughed about the cheese wax in Finn’s hair.
And smiled at my cute daughters outfit.
And instead of getting mad that Deon misunderstood and didn’t get dinner ready by the time we were home, I watched the sunset and took my boys to a nature program about beavers.
It was a lovely off-kilter day, to end our lovely, off-kilter week. Because life is short, and meant to be enjoyed.
