Making tracks

Today was a long driving day. We are 1200 miles from Sacramento, and a special wedding to make in 4 days. I’m a little worried about the weather, and I would be so upset to drive so many miles to miss it. So we drive.
We got a late start today. We aren’t early risers anyway, but we hadn’t had much of an opportunity to see Deon’s cousin, Ian. He went to work, but came home to make us a yummy breakfast and spend some time with us.

So we finally hit the road about noon. And the usual detours, traffic, trailer and van checks. We did have an exciting (and scary) moment when Deon witnessed an accident about 10 cars in front of us. It was a pretty major accident, with 4 very smashed small cars and a rolled over work truck. We didn’t stop, as there were a lot of good Samaritans already out helping. I did call 911, and I’m glad I did, because nobody else had. A state trooper pulled up, but the dispatcher said he had just pulled up on it, and she didn’t yet have the info she needed. So I had to look, and answer questions. Even though I think everyone was (or would be) ok, it was hard, and it really shook me up.

But I am reminded that no matter how bad the traffic gets, or how frustrating all the little things going wrong can be, I have so much to be thankful for. So much.

This is the shadow of the Rockies behind us. Life is beautiful.
