I think I’m in love…
I feel like a traitor. I was born in San Francisco, and have traveled all over the world, and it had remained my favorite big city. Until today.
We started off the day at church, which was good. Having a little tussle with my 3 year old about going to class. This, too, shall pass. I put my foot down this week and told him that he did not have to go to his own class, but I was going to mine. His choice to accompany me (instead of going to his own class) meant he had to sit quietly for an hour and a half. He didn’t like that much.
Anyway, back to my day. We headed from church to downtown Chicago. Except it took a while, because that happens. Church, lunch, piano, parking the rv, parking the van. But when we arrived, it was magical.
We first went to Maggie Daley park. So much fun! So many people, kids with their adults, running and playing.
Then over to millennium park. This is where cloud gate, aka the bean, is located. I just couldn’t get enough of the spectacular skyline. This first picture is in the bean. It isn’t a great picture but it has all 8 of us!
Then we headed over to crown fountain, because my kids love water, right? Nope, kind of a bust. The water was too cold, and the spray too hard. Who knew? Cool art anyway, if a little creepy.

I love Chicago!!!
Chicago in August…Ok. But get the hell out of there before winter. That would have you rethinking poor jilted San Francisco in a heartbeat.
I always say, “I love Chicago…in summer.” And I’m glad you did too! And I love Cloud Gate. Go Anish Kapoor! So simple, so successful! It is a lovely sculpture and fun to see everyone enjoying the view in it. And I also think that art is creepy.
Did you have to sign a release to climb that play structure? It looks “out of this world”!
