Motor city
We decided to spend our time in Detroit at the Henry ford complex. There is so much more we could have done, but this seemed the quintessential Motor City thing to do.
Today we did the HF Museum. There is so much more to this museum than cars! First up, we saw the actual car that Regan was shot in and JFK was assassinated in. And they kept using the cars, which I thought was weird. There is so much to this museum, I can’t possibly begin to list it all. I enjoyed the civil rights area, with the rosa parks bus and Abraham Lincolns chair from the ford theater. The doll houses were sweet, and the 1700-1930s replica kitchens. I also really like the dymaxion house and gen x exhibit. The kids loved the trains and Legos.
It was a good mix of hands on and sociology and technology. It is really interesting to take note of where each of my family members gravitates to and why. I like the sociology areas. The boys liked the trains, Deon liked the cars, and the girls liked the furniture and instruments. Everybody liked the building Legos.
