This blog post will cover 2 days. Friday the van got a new alternator, and we headed into Billings with the adults and the 2 babies. Did some shopping, had some dinner. On the drive back it started throwing fault codes, limiting our speed, and sucking air. But it’s Friday night in a small town, so we aren’t going anywhere until Monday at the earliest. 

This was especially devastating to me because Saturday, July 9th is Finnick’s 5th birthday. I planned a steam train ride in his honor. In South Dakota. So I made a nice breakfast, but was pretty sad all morning. Enter Deon to the rescue! About 45 minutes away is the Little Bighorn National Recreation Area. He called all morning hoping for a cancellation, and finally, after lunch, it came through! If not a train, a boat!

The views are spectacular, and my little boy got to drive.

   
    

We were up late, so we had to wake him up, but we had cake for his birthday.

  
 It didn’t work out the way I had planned, but still a fun and memorable birth date.
