Happy Birthday, America!
Our first holiday on the road. This is not something I was looking forward to. I like our traditions.
I chose Cody, WY because it is well rated for 4th of July activities. We started the day at a parade, but only caught the last bit. We did park the trailer in our church parking lot.
Deon loves bridges and dams, so we drove out to the Buffalo Bill Dam. I stayed in the car with sleeping babies. Then we headed in to town. Deon and I made a Walmart run, while the kids toured Old Trail Town, a grouping of relocated buildings from the old west time, including those frequented by Buffalo Bill Cody and Butch Cassidy.
Then my older 4 plus the Ketchum girls went to the Cody nite rodeo. So fun! I love rodeos! Cal poly was even represented! And a family from Utah that had 9 family members competing! It was all perfect except for the grouchy lady in front of us who told my kids they were cheering too loud.
Deon picked us up with a nice surprise, the church we were parked at was having a BBQ and watching fireworks from the bluff they were situated on. The kids enjoyed the other kids (and the bounce house) and we enjoyed the company as well. The fire works were beautiful, but I would have like to have been closer.
All in all, a nice way to spend a holiday.
